The October 2025 Update

We’ve rolled out several enhancements to improve the user experience, content accuracy, and developer onboarding for the Trackside Formula 1 fan site. Here’s a summary of the key changes:

Enhanced Dark Mode and UI Consistency

  • Refined dark theme colors across components like the header, footer, faqs, and features grid for better readability and visual appeal.
  • Improved typography, spacing, and layout in sections such as the features grid and breadcrumbs.
  • Updated team cards with a dedicated overlay for backgrounds, ensuring legibility while removing unused elements.
  • Enhanced stat cards with minimum heights and better label contrast for accessibility.
  • Polished CTA button hover states and overall dark mode styling in various sections.
  • Added reusable navigation buttons (e.g., BlogButtons.astro and SeasonButtonsModular.astro) for easy access to the blog, home, and season pages.
  • Upgraded the breakpoint indicator to show the current Tailwind breakpoint, body width, and main container width—streamlining responsive design debugging.

Content Accuracy and Schema Updates

  • Expanded the constructor data schema to include new fields like grand prix points and races entered, with optional stats for richer team profiles.
  • Updated all 2025 constructor pages (Alpine, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Haas, and more) with accurate stats, detailed descriptions, and current form analysis.
  • Refined FAQ content: Added an entry on data sources and clarified that race highlight videos are recreations from F1 games, not official footage.
  • Improved layout and readability in FAQ, technology grid, and cost cap sections with concise markup, better alignment, and consistent headings/paragraphs.

Performance and Accessibility Boosts

  • Preloaded Noto Sans variable fonts for faster rendering.
  • Standardized code formatting, Tailwind class usage, and import statements across files for cleaner, more maintainable code.
  • Ensured better color contrast and accessibility in buttons, text, and headers.

Developer Onboarding Improvements

  • Introduced comprehensive Copilot instructions in .github/copilot-instructions.md, covering project structure, workflows, conventions, and common pitfalls.
  • Enhanced the README with clear setup commands, structure explanations, and contributor guidelines.

These updates make Trackside more polished, accessible, and contributor-friendly while keeping F1 fans informed with accurate, engaging content. Stay tuned for more!
